Singer Sam Morrow's Fervent New Album
There is No Map out September 18

Named A WXPN "World Café Next" Artist For His 2014 Debut

“[Morrow] offers ready comparisons to the inspiring melancholia of Springsteen’s Nebraska, Steve Earle’s Train a Coming and Jason Isbell's more recent Southeastern…a singular presence, an artist who can turn a slow moan into a song that’s truly compelling…clearly positioned to make a lingering impression – NO DEPRESSION

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Sam Morrow has confirmed the September 18 release of his second album There Is No Map. Produced by Eric Corne, who also co-wrote five tracks on the album, the release boasts a new direction for Morrow, at times outwardly exploring and at times introspective, it inhabits the same space as torchbearers such as Jason Isbell, Hayes Carll and Sturgill Simpson. More ambitious in sound than any of his previous recordings There Is No Map will be released via Forty Below Records.

"Eric Corne and I have had a vision, since the finishing of our last record," says Morrow, "for this one to be more daring. The last album dwelled on the darkness of growing up and running from reality, so I wanted this record to highlight those real adventures I had and still have going forward."

"My tastes matured," continues Morrow. "I found myself digging deeper into Americana. Little Feat, Hank Williams, Paul McCartney’s RAM, Lucinda Williams, Merle Haggard. I found myself being influenced by things I wasn’t before."

Morrow is backed on the album by Matt Tecu on Drums, Eamon Ryland on Guitar, Mandolin and more, Ted Russell Kamp on bass, Sasha Smith on piano and organ, Jim Alfredson on organ, Matt Bradford on dobro, Eric Corne on backing vocals and harmonica and Samantha Valdez on backing vocals.

Whereas Ephemeral was written amidst a fog of lingering depression and addiction, Morrow’s turn with There Is No Map is a wide-eyed journey through the past, careening into the future.
