Song Premiere: John Mayall “Can’t Take No More” (Feat. Marcus King)

John Mayall’s latest album The Sun is Shining Down is set for release on January 28th via Forty Below Records. The blues legend has enlisted a range of notable artists to join him on the record, including Mike Campbell, Marcus King, Buddy Miller and Jake Shimabukuro. Mayall notes that “each one of these special guests brings something unique to the album and our team works so well together. I think you can hear that chemistry in the music.” Mayall’s core band features Greg Rzab on bass, Jay Davenport on drums and Carolyn Wonderland on guitar.

Today we premiere “Can’t Take No More” from the forthcoming record, with Marcus King joining in on guitar. Mayall tells Relix, “I love this track. Marcus King’s excellent guitar work adds a unique flair. He really kicks it into high gear.” King adds, “Since I was a child I remember John Mayall’s name being mentioned with great reverence around our household, this colossal blues titan. A name that was almost larger than anything I could imagine. Almost every distinguishing formidable era of my life thus far, I can tell you the Mayall album that accompanies each of those memories; the album of Johns I was listening to at that time. I felt so honored to be asked to perform on his most recent work as it will be the John Mayall record that I will forever associate with this time in my life and one of the greatest pleasures and highlights of my career.”

The Sun is Shining Down is now available for pre-order and pre-save.
